The Daily Yankee
NAP OF THE DAY: Getaway Totherock, (1445 Ludlow), 1pt win, 5/2:
A lightly raced mare who may have produced her best when a wide margin winner at this course two runs ago. Her handicap debut at Newbury last time was a pretty decent effort. This looks a lesser race, and back on a proven stomping ground she looks the day’s best bet.
The Eagle’s Nest, (1430 Southwell), 9/2: a fascinating little handicap for his course. Plenty have a chance but we like The Eagle’s Nest. He was a shock winner when getting up late on over a mile here last time. He may just have clicked on this surface. He usually races over much longer trips and the 7f is a worry, but connections now know he goes well here and they have permission to be more aggressive tactically.
Tabaahy, (1810 Wolves), 4/1: the course could be key for this fella. His one win came here in good style in a maiden, and his other course run was a close but never sixth. Ran pretty well at Newcastle last time but it’s the return to these conditions that look perfect. Kirby is an interesting jockey booking.
Seventeen O Four, (1940 Wolves), 3/1: jockey Hayley Turner picks her rides selectively these days and she will know a win got away on board this 3yo last time. He cruised through to lead but found little late on. Turner will know to be a little more cautious this time and will certainly delay her effort til later in the race.
