Friday Yankee: Hopes for Slopes…

The Daily Yankee

NAP OF THE DAY:  On The Slopes, (1425 Kempton), 1pt win, 7/2:

We like novices Imperial Aura and Simply The Betts heading to Cheltenham – they finished 1-2 in a handicap there recently and On The Slopes was third.  Although well beaten in the end he was giving them a race until tiring on the hill.  This sharper track should suit and if that form is to be as good as we hope, then he should land this event.

Homer, (1320 Kempton), 5/2:  was a pretty useful flat horse in France but has only looked moderate in juvenile hurdles for trainer Henderson.  Has been rated at a relatively low 117 and gets 10lbs weight for age allowance taking on older horses.  Jockey Joe Anderson is a relative unknown but Henderson rarely uses duds, and he gets the maximum 10lb claim.  On a sharp track on decent ground he can make his flat class tell.

One For Dunstan, (1455 Kempton), 5/1:  some fancy long prices may have gone, but this lightly raced gelding still looks a right plot.  A runner up in a good ground point to point, he has barely been seen in three soft ground maidens.  An initial rating of 97 looks ripe for exploitation on this return to a better surface, the small Walford yard is in very good form, and the booking of Cobden looks significant.

Touch Kick, (1530 Kempton), 3/1:   Has run two good races sandwiching an ordinary effort over the National fences.  His second here last time was a good run and he goes off the same mark here.  Canelo has something to prove off a bad run, whilst Kilfilum Cross is probably being prepped for the Cheltenham Kim Muir in which he was second last year.
