Wednesday Yankee: No end to Continuum…

The Daily Yankee

NAP OF THE DAY:  NAP OF THE DAY:  Continuum, (1930 Kempton), 1pt win, 8/1:

Tricky to judge this veteran 11yo.  The market suggests a reversion to his recent long downward slide consistent with his ageing profile.  It would be a reversion though as he seemed to buck the trend with an out-of-the-blue victory here when waltzing home easily.  He is up 5lbs and needs to show it’s no fluke, but the runner up has won since, and the third has won twice.  Normally that would be enough to have him favourite here, and he probably would be if 7 years younger.  We’ll trust the old legs weren’t lying, and his rider’s useful 5lb claim leaves him little to do but repeat the dose.

Adjutant, (1345 Southwell), 15/8:  Fit from hurdling for his in form jumps yard.  Makes a foray back on to the flat and a first taste of the unique Southwell surface.  In a small field, with no obvious pacesetter he could just get his own way up front and can outclass the exposed track stalwart Princess Harley.

Cosmelli, (1525 Southwell), 11/4:  looks very well handicapped of a mark 11lbs lower than when a close 5th in the Northumberland Plate last June.  Has won here and was a fair third returning here last time. Stays this longer trip and can cash in on the dropping mark.

Kybosh, (1700 Kempton), 5/2:  Still a maiden after 12 runs but his best effort was probably his third here two runs ago on his only trip to this course. The two that beat him there have won again since, whilst his well beaten run at Wolves is easily forgiven as he found a ton of trouble. Young Erika Parkinson has been in the winners and claims a useful 7lbs and it would be very disappointing if he didn’t go close off a net mark of 42.
