Saturday Yankee: Truly Juilley…

After having three Yankees wiped out in entirety by weather issues this week we are hoping Storm Dennis lacks menace and allows some cards to go ahead, or it’ll be over to late night llama racing to get our fix…

The Daily Yankee

NAP OF THE DAY:  NAP OF THE DAY:  Garo De Juilley, (1500 Ascot), 1pt each way, 22/1:

He has historically toiled on the fringes of good handicap hurdles but has spent this year chasing.  That didn’t look to be going far but he did run a staying on 4th at Cheltenham last time in a race whose form we rate very highly.  Stepping back to hurdles is an interesting move, and this race and the under-hoof conditions often open the window to an upset.

Valtor, (1425 Ascot), 9/2:  tempting to pick one course specialist in Regal Encore, but Nicky Henderson’s Valtor is potentially another specialist having won both runs here.  May be best right handed and ran pretty well at Taunton last time.  We’re multiplying that form by including both Valtor and the winner there Yala Enki in the Yankee.  Let’s hope that form is what we believe it to be.

Yala Enki, (1515 Haydock), 7/2:   previously useful for Venetia Williams including a win in this race by almost a lap. Has looked in good form for new yard Nicholls including a decent effort in the Welsh National and a nice win at Taunton last time.  Back at this track and with Bryony Frost doing the steering he can get the better of fellow Haydock lover Vintage Clouds.

Young Bull, (1550 Haydock), 5/1:  not many of these have secrets from the handicapper, but Young Bull is just a novice and harder to assess.  Comes from an in form stable and looked as though he had more in the locker last time.
