Friday Yankee: Successful Outcome?…

A bit unlucky yesterday, exemplified by nap Ask Mary running like the Clonmel Crisp and throwing a seemingly unassailable lead.  Thankfully a strong Friday Newbury card can offer compensation…

The Daily Yankee

NAP OF THE DAY: Financial Outcome, (1515 Newbury), 1pt win, 5/2:

Chaser has been gradually finding his substantial stride over fences.  Won well at Doncaster and looked well placed to repeat at Uttoxeter until a late blunder cost him all chance.  This galloping track looks ideal and he looks likely to be ridden aggressively at this trip and will be hard to pass.

Flight Deck, (1510 Newbury), 4/1: very well bred but barely sighted in three maiden hurdles runs.  On the bare facts an opening rating of 114 doesn’t look a gift, but he should be capable of much more, and with Jonjos Snr and Jnr in great form it looks significant that they unleash him for his handicap debut at a top track like Newbury.

Connetable, (1620 Newbury), 10/1:  just 2 years ago he was chasing home Delta Work to come 3rd in the Pertemps at Cheltenham.  His poor form since has seen him shipped to a small yard and dropped 18lbs. There were signs last time of a resurrection at Doncaster and this could be the moment to back him at a price.

Amoola Gold, (1655 Newbury), 11/4:  promising handicapper from red hot yard.  Ran a great race when runner up here after Christmas when probably should have won but for some trouble on the run in.  Can make amends today.
