Premier League: Salah to boost Reds…

The Premier League weekend kicks off with the league leaders Liverpool hosting Bournemouth, seeking to end a run of recent defeats and close in on the title.

The Reds have had a bad few weeks. Their unbeaten run in the league game to a crashing halt at Watford; they are out of the FA Cup after defeat by Chelsea; and they trail Atletico Madrid 1-0 in the last 16 of the Champions League.

But they still have a 22 point lead in the title race, and victory today would put them tantalising close to ending their 30 year search for their Holy Grail.

They should do it. They have won their last five league games against Bournemouth by an aggregate score of 17-0. Mohamed Salah has scored in all of these five games, netting 7 goals in the process. We’ll take him to score a couple in front of the adoring home fans, helped by Paddy Power’s boosted price.

The late game sees Burnley host Tottenham at Turf Moor.

The visitors are in disarray – they have just gone out on penalties to Norwich in the FA Cup; they trail in the Champions League last 16; and they are five points off fourth place in the league.

Burnley can take something from this game. They won this fixture last year when Spurs were flying, and they are currently on a six match unbeaten run in the league. That said, we’re not sure how to profit from this.

Instead we’re going to take a punt on Harry Winks picking up a yellow card today. He has already been booked 8 times in the Premier League this season, from 23 games. That’s roughly a 2/1 shot. Throw in a tasty midfield scrap and we think the 7/2 on offer from BetFred is a good bet.

Recommendations:

Liverpool/Bournemouth: Salah to score a brace, 1 pt, at 11/2, Paddy Power

Burnley/Tottenham: Winks to be booked, 1 pt, at 7/2, BetFred
