The big game in the Premier League Sunday is the Manchester derby, with Old Trafford hosting this particular meeting.
This could be a feisty encounter. Both teams need the points, City to retain pressure on Liverpool at the top of the table and United to try and claim a Champions League spot. As well as that, there will be a fair amount of bragging rights to be settled.
City have had the better of things at Old Trafford of late, and will be aiming for their fourth consecutive victory at United’s home ground for only the second time in their history. United will be keen for that not to happen, and have the knowledge that they can beat their cross-city rivals on their day.
City are likely to be missing Belgian star Kevin de Bruyne due to injury, and we think that would be a big blow. Thus we’re going to side with a draw in this clash.
The early game sees Chelsea hosting Everton at Stamford Bridge.
This match is all about European qualification. Chelsea lie in fourth but have been stuttering of late, and are only two points ahead of Wolves and Sheffield United and three ahead of United. A win today is needed to make Champions League football more likely next season.
Everton are only five points off Manchester United, and with fifth place potentially qualifying for Champions League (depending on Manchester City’s ban) then a win today could move them into the mix.
All that said, we’re going to side with the home team. Most of their difficulties have come against lesser sides – we think they will be fully focused today.
Marcus Alonso is Chelsea’s top scorer in the Premier League in 2020 with three goals despite only playing for 180 minutes. The 28/1 that SkyBet offers that he scores from outside the penalty area does offer appeal, but we’re going with the 11/2 that he scores anytime.
Recommendations:
Manchester United/Manchester City: A draw, 1 pt, at 16/5, widely available
Chelsea/Everton: Alonso to score anytime, 1 or, at 11/2, Paddy Power
