It is hard to re-focus after a topsy-turvy, dramatic and controversial Cheltenham Festival. More reflection on that another day soon, but blog followers were able to play up winnings thanks to a cracking Saturday Yankee.
One of our leading Festival hopes, and the third leg of our “Golden Thread” bet was On The Slopes. He just missed getting into the Grand Annual leaving our treble as an Imperial Aura-Simply The Betts double (which was nice !!), so ended up instead at Kempton’s festival consolation meeting to get the ball rolling with an easy win (11/10 SP, 6/4 early).
Next up was 2pt nap McFabulous (5/2), who was every bit as impressive as we had expected now that he has Spring ground, and is clearly heading for better things.
Leg 3 was a blow-out, but our final leg was Truckers Lodge (6/1 SP) who never looked anything but the winner throughout the seemingly several hours of the Midlands National and landed the spoils with ease.
All told that landed around ten times money staked as a return, which with a big winning nap ensured the post-festival blues were quickly shrugged off.
