Monday Yankee: Greg to star in leading role…

The Daily Yankee

NAP OF THE DAY: Gregarious, (1500 Southwell), 1pt win, 7/1:

Four career hurdles wins have come when making all over 2m.  Has dropped 16lbs this season whilst unable to lead, but looks likely to get his own way here on a track that suits and now off a gift of a rating.  Worth a chance that this could work out tactically perfect.

Elite Icon, (1510 Kelso), 16/1:  moderate but consistent flat stayer who has had three quiet hurdles runs for new connections.  Steps up dramatically to a trip which should suit for handicap debut and maybe worth chancing at a huge price.

Alnadam, (1520 Hereford), 6/4:  promising novice who made a handicap debut at Newbury recently.  Finished a good close 4th there in what looked a useful little race.  This is a huge step down in class, and he can be expected to put that experience to good use having been generously dropped a pound for that good run.

First Assembly, (1600 Southwell), 5/2:  has had just two handicap runs finishing second both times.  Only a pound higher and finished well last time.  This isn’t a strong race and he should be able to land the win.
