Sunday Yankee: Fast learning Kerv…

The Daily Yankee

NAP OF THE DAY:  Cheb De Kerviniou, (1510 Downpatrick), 2pts win, 9/2:

We have opposed and napped this French import already this season.  He likes to front run and jumps superbly but has lacked the finishing punch to get the big win.  That said he hasn’t been overly punished by the handicapper and if ever there was a race designed for his talents it’s this one.  The sublime Rachael Blackmore should get him in a great jumping rhythm, get out in front, ping the rat-a-tat last two fences and hopefully cling on for dear life round the end to the line.

The Very Man, (1410 Downpatrick ), 15/8:  his form gives the impression of being frustrating taking 5 runs to break his hurdling duck.  But he has been unlucky to run into a series of some of the better Irish novices.  Seems on a fair mark, and although not necessarily an easy ride, he has the magician Davy Russell on top, and  that should be enough for this.

Bread And Butter, (1440 Downpatrick), 5/1: a very competitive handicap but the form of the Gavin Cromwell yard continues to be a feature of the Irish season and he has two strong chances here.  Jockey Johnathan Moore has been riding both and we won’t second guess his pick of Bread And Butter.

Capture The Drama, (1540 Downpatrick), 11/1:  the old man of the field has seen his rating fall massively.  That said, he’s not been running too badly, has run well here, should like conditions and likes to race prominently.  Could go well at a big price.
