The Daily Yankee
NAP OF THE DAY: Sendmylovetoyou, (1500 Naas), 1pt win, 10/1:
A very competitive handicap. The case for this lightly raced fully is based on her first two runs, a debut success and a very good 4th on handicap debut. She looks well in on those runs and it is worth forgiving a poor third effort which may have come quickly enough. The season break since then should have freshened her up and we know she can run well first time out.
Poetic Flare, (1400 Naas), 3/1: the opening flat race of the season on turf and a chance to test the annual theory that the powerful Aidan O’Brien yard often start slowly and hence oppose their odds-on 2yo debutant. A few stables here like a quick start the season, but few have as much ammunition as Jim Bolger and his Poetic Flare under stable jockey Manning can relish the heavy ground as he’s bred more like a hurdler than a sprinter.
Lustown Baba, (1530 Naas), 4/1: looked a progressive filly when winning a good race here on this ground in October. Ran well in a handicap off this mark afterwards and she looks the type to keep progressing as a 3yo.
Even So, (1630 Naas), 7/4: was just over 2l behind main rival Blissful at Tipperary last season but that was this filly’s debut and the O’Brien filly’s third run. Went on to win well on her only other start and can progress past her old rival, even without allowing for her yard being habitually much faster starters to the season.
