NAP OF THE DAY: Gossiping, (1520 Kempton), 1pt win 15/8:
Not a particularly strong race and the case for veteran Gossiping is compelling. He has a rich history of winning in late May (close enough), and some terrible pre-lockdown form means he turns up here a full 15lbs lower than the mark he won off this time last year. Won here last March when a well backed favourite after some poor runs, and a deluge of cash for him again today is a sure sign that he is ready to go in again.
Born With Pride, (1445 Kempton), 9/4: has gained attention in the Oaks market and seeks experience here having won her only 2yo start landing a good quality listed race in soft ground. The surface is riding a bit slow which should suit and she escapes any penalty moving up to Group 3. May be sharper than slugger Max Vega and looks to have the mighty Gosden’s Hypothetical to beat. We think there are stronger shots to be fired by Gosden, and if Born With Pride is to merit an Oaks run then she needs to be taking this.
Scentasia, (1555 Kempton), 3/1: former Guineas winner Billesdon Brook is the class here, but she has a big 7lb penalty and her seasonal debut form is 343, suggesting she may improve for this run. John Gosden looks likely to train the winner but complicates things by sending both proven all weather improver Scentasia and the hugely unexposed but exciting Nazeef. The latter may prove the better horse in time, but Scentasia has the attributes for an all weather win, is very well drawn and has Frankie on top. She may just pinch this before the less experienced and less well drawn Nazeef finds her stride.
Marshal Dan, (1630 Kempton), 10/1: Ran conspicuously well throughout last season but remains very well treated just 3lbs above his Newbury winning mark. Has plenty of all weather experience and was a good 2nd of 14 when reappearing after a break last year. Is reported in great form for his reappearance here, has a good draw and can put a potent turn of foot to good effect. Looks far too big a price.
