A tricky looking 1000 Guineas today in which the proven stamina of Quadrilateral and Love will be tested against the speed of Millisle and Raffle Prize. Add in some dangerous long shots like Shimmering and Les Hogues and it makes for a real conundrum. Thankfully, as punters we have choice, and we choose not to try and solve it. Millisle looks the most likely in the conditions, but we are happy to watch. Instead…..

NAP OF THE DAY: Liberty Beach, (1625 Haydock), 1pt win, 7/2:
3yo filly takes on mostly older horses in this Listed sprint. She won 4 from 6 as a 2yo, losing only when 4th at Royal Ascot in the Queen Mary and when runner up in York’s Lowther stakes. Won at this level, and at the higher Group 3 level in Goodwood’s Molecomb stakes, but the conditions of this event means she escapes unpenalised. That is very generous and she should go really well if ready for this 3yo debut.
Communique, (1350 Newmarket), 9/4: has won on all four starts at the track and brings an office in ratings edge of 6lbs on this field. Trainer is in great form, has booked ace Ryan Moore, and could make all here.
Ebury, (1610 Newmarket), 3/1: lightly raced and loads of potential. Didn’t have much luck on his last run as a 3yo when second here and looks well weighted on that run. Any improvement from 3 to 4 should underpin his chance.
Maori Knight, (1810 Haydock), 7/4: a short price for a handicap, but looks thrown in here off 83 having run with promise in two 2yo races against good horses and then trotted up in a novice event just before the lockdown. Plenty of unexposed ones to beat, but they’ll need plenty in hand to challenge this fella.
