Monday Yankee: Here’s looking at you Kidd…

Royal Ascot imminent – but in the meantime we get to endure Pontefract and Chepstow…

The Daily Yankee

NAP OF THE DAY:  Johnny Kidd, (2025 Chepstow), 1pt win, 9/4:

You know you’re fishing in shallow waters when you’re In the first division of a staying handicap at the fag end of a Chepstow evening.  In fairness to Johnny Kidd he has been unfortunate to bump into a couple of ringers in his last few runs.  He deserves a shot in this low grade and he finally looks to have found a race with no lurking dangers.  He should win.

Makthecat, (1420 Pontefract), 12/1:  made a fair handicap debut at Haydock recently when making the running over a longer trip.  This step back to a mile looks a good move, his stable is in fair form and he looks a big price in a race where many of these have questions to answer.

Revolver, (1525 Pontefract), 6/4:  owned by some good friends of ours and given the classic Sir Mark Prescott preparation.  This race has been carefully picked out and bar the Mark Johnston trained My Girl Maggie, the rest look like cannon fodder as this gelding sets about starting a sequence.

Celtic Artisan, (1625 Pontefract), 12/1:  a veteran now but has 10 lifetime wins and needs this trip rather than the mile over which he was a fair fourth on return from lock-down. Has course form of 332 and looks sure to be thereabouts a juicy price.
