Wednesday Yankee: Good start to July?…

So we signed off a memorable June run with another Nap win courtesy of Wentworth Falls (9/2 early, 7/2 SP), who broke a 20 race losing run at his beloved Doncaster.  Now let’s hit July running….

NAP OF THE DAY:  Good Tidings, (1915 Kempton), 1pt win, 11/4:

Was twice edged out here in close finishes here last year and can complete some unfinished business tonight.  Ran a cracker on return when unable to cope with the potentially top notch Alignak at Newcastle, that form is working out well and he looks on a winnable mark just 2lbs higher.  James Doyle takes the ride and barring a repeat of last time’s stumble and unseat, he should be steering this fella home first.

Gabrial The Wire, (1420 Musselburgh), 11/4:  front running Muntadab and course specialist Three Saints Bay help make a market here, but we like the younger Gabriel The Wire.  He won three times at this distance as a 3yo, but has run twice at 6f this season, with a good third followed by a fine 5th from a poor draw in the Silver Wokingham at Royal Ascot. This drop in class and step up in trip look ideal and he should really be favourite in this company.

Lady Savanah, (1755 Leopardstown), 7/1: caused a surprise with a smooth win here on return on which form this 5lb higher mark looks well within scope.  Got no run at Fairyhouse last time when 6th, and will need luck in this big field given her run-style, but in Slattery she has one of the most experienced riders in this apprentice race, and she looks value to strike again.

True Destiny, (2015 Kempton), 2/1: progressed rapidly at staying trips last season starting with a win here and ending with a close third in a good race at Goodwood.  Has been off since, but it looks significant that he skipped entries both at Royal Ascot and the Northumberland Plate to instead start his campaign in these shallower waters and continue his build up to better things ahead.
