Sunday Yankee: Go Green…

The Daily Yankee

NAP OF THE DAY: Greenside (1550 Haydock), 1pt win, 7/2:

Gallant old veteran but relatively low mileage with just 22 runs for a 9yo.  Seems better for stepping back to 7f of late and handles this surface.  Has been campaigned in top handicaps and this looks easier giving weight to lesser horses.

Ikebana (1415 Doncaster), 9/2:  made a fair handicap debut when a never closer 5th on firm ground at Yarmouth.  Dropped 2lbs and with a useful 5lb claimer booked, her net mark of 62 looks very attractive, and being from sire Pivotal she looks sure to improve a lot for the softer ground.

Ranch Hand (1515 Haydock), 13/2:  a fabulous handicap where we find it hard to desert our 40/1 Ascot hero Scarlet Dragon.  However the soft ground here should play to the strengths of Ranch Hand.  He won here in style on this surface last season, and his comeback 6th at Royal Ascot was ok on ground too fast.  This looks perfect for him,

Edmund Dantes (1735 Doncaster), 4/1: won cosily in return in a nice race at Newbury.  Has only been raised 5lbs but looked value for more than that, and his useful apprentice claims those 5lbs off in any case. Has winning form on soft ground and should be very hard to beat.
