The PGA Tour heads to the famed Muirfield Village on Thursday for the Workday Charity Open.
This is the first of two weeks at Jack’s Place, and to differentiate this tournament from next week’s Memorial Tournament organisers are set to water the course and place the pins in pretty accessible positions.
With this in mind, we’re going to side with Justin Thomas win this weekend.
It’s true he didn’t shine last time out, but he loves this course – finishing fourth in the Memorial in 2017 and eighth the following year. Also, at his peak he can destroy a welcoming course, as typified by his 59 in the Sony Open in 2017.
Our second selection is Joaquin Niemann. The Chilean youngster starred on his Memorial debut in 2018, eventually finishing sixth. He occasionally has difficulty with his putting, but if the track is watered then the greens will be slower and this issue shouldn’t be a problem.
Recommendations:
Thomas to win, 1 pt, at 10/1, widely available
Niemann 0.5 pts each way at 45/1, 1/5 the odds for the first eight places, William Hill
