Sunday’s main feature in the Premier League is the North London derby between the hosts Tottenham and Arsenal.
These games are usually cagey affairs. Neither team will want to lose, but a defeat to the hosts will put manager Jose Mourinho under real pressure as the season comes to an end.
He was brought in as a serial winner, but his team has looked anything but and European football next season is unlikely. He is already known as a defensive manager, and we think he will play that way today.
Mikel Arteta has obviously been working hard at tightening Arsenal’s defence since he was appointed. They have the chance today to win a third away league game in succession without conceding, for the first time since May 2013.
We’re expecting a game of few goals. With that in the back of our minds, we remembered praise being showered on Arsenal fullback Kieran Tierney during the match against Leicester midweek.
We’re not sure who the Sky pundit that chooses the man of the match will be, but this is the big game so either Gary Neville or Jamie Carragher are likely – both fullbacks in their playing days.
It’s a punt, but if it is a low scoring game then a defender in the away team must have a chance. And 12/1 with William Hill is a nice price for Tierney.
Recommendations:
Tierney to be man of the match, 1 pt, at 12/1, William Hill
