Tuesday Yankee: Get some Scottish Spirit…

The Daily Yankee

NAP OF THE DAY: Spiritofthenorth, (2000 Ayr), 1pt win, 7/2:

A competitive race that looks booked for one of the 3yos.  Kevin Ryan’s runner was the only one to get close to Manaabit at Beverley last time with those two well clear.  That winner followed up at Ascot on the weekend suggesting that this fella’s 3lb rise might be a significant underestimate.

Indian Sounds, (1200 Bath), 5/2:  won here recently and has to defy a 6lb raise for that.  Course form is valuable and he got going late on that day after a sluggish start.  Will need to trap sharper here as there are some lightning front runners to catch, but a relentless pace is just the right circumstance for this guy to show his best.

Mia Mento, (1335 Bath), 3/1:  was backed into favourite on turf stable debut at Newmarket last time but missed the break completely and was a tenderly handled fourth.  Has been given time since and this looks a winnable target for this filly for an in form yard and with a good jockey on top.

Poet’s Magic, (1715 Ayr), 11/2:  a thirteen times maiden drawn wide doesn’t augur well, but she was pretty unlucky not to win off this mark down south last season, and the switch of stables and location looked like it could trigger a leap forward when she was a somewhat unlucky third at Musselburgh last week.   She looks fair value here.
