Premier League: Stunning Silva…

One of the early televised games Wednesday is Manchester City’s clash with Bournemouth from the Etihad.

City have been playing well since the restart, the loss to Southampton aside, but to they have little left to play for in the league. The title has gone and second place is assured, so star players could be rested ahead of their FA Cup semifinal on the weekend.

With this in mind, step forward David Silva. The Spanish star has been one of the best midfielders in recent Premier League history, but is getting on in years and will leave the club at the end of the season.

He still has star quality even though he’s probably not first choice at the moment. That said, he’s likely to play tonight, will be rested and ready to dictate the play. At 10/1 he looks a good price to be man of the match.

The late game sees new champions Liverpool travel south to take on Arsenal.

The Gunners suffered defeat on Sunday against Tottenham and now face a side they haven’t beaten in the league for nine games.

Liverpool suffered a hiccup against Burnley last time out, but still have the Premier League points record to play for. That said, they clearly haven’t been the same side after the restart, dropping as many points in their last six games as in the previous 40.

Arsenal have improved under Mikel Arteta, and are likely to give the champions a good game. We’re not sure that have enough to win, given we think Liverpool are likely to score, but we’ll go for a draw.

Recommendations:

Manchester City/Bournemouth: David Silva to be man of the match, 1 pt, at 10/1, William Hill

Arsenal/Liverpool: Draw, 1 pt, at 3/1, widely available
