Some close shaves yesterday denied us a good yankee payout. Keep knocking on the door and eventually…..

NAP OF THE DAY: Call Me Ginger, (1400 Hamilton), 1pt win, 7/1:
The Scottish Stewards cup and a convention of old rogues for this blog. Our old chum Admirality could run a blinder but we have become resigned to the fact he is very hard to win with. Amongst a few other blog rogue candidates, the shining star is Call Me Ginger. Slowly away the last twice and staying on from impossible positions over a quick 5f, this stiffer 6f should suit better. He looks nicely drawn and can get the better of race specialist Air Raid.
Sir Havelock, (1600 Hamilton), 4/1: ran a blinder from off the pace to come second at Thirsk last time for which he has been edged up just a pound. That looks super generous as the first and third from that race have already won since. Should win the battle of the 3yos in a race where the older brigade looks to have little chance.
Our Oystercatcher, (1620 Sandown), 11/2: twice finished ahead of today’s favourite Indian Raj at this course last Summer. Both have shown good form in their last runs and a weight pull may explain the betting. However, Our Oystercatcher is an uncomplicated ride in that he’ll blast off in front, and with a rail nearby he could prove hard to catch whilst the favourite has to navigate a wider draw and the potential for traffic issues.
Magic J, (1655 Sandown), 5/2: has the blend of good form at both 5f and 6f that this stiff track demands. Jockey Oisin Murphy has come second on him the last twice and will know that he is perfectly drawn to sit just behind the pace and that there are no excuses this afternoon.
