NAP OF THE DAY: My Dandy Doc, (1420 Ayr), 1pt win, 5/2:
A lightly raced filly who was a big outsider when making a winning return at Doncaster. That may have been a surprise but the style of her win suggested it may be no fluke. She beat 16 rivals there, the closest of which won at Sandown on the weekend, and a 6lb rise looks well within her scope.
Pretty Lady, (1245 Ayr), 7/2: the form horse here is Mecca’s Hot Steps who could well win, but it could be worth chancing Pretty Lady. The Mark Johnston yard is in fine form and this filly looked like she might be a 5f specialist when fading late on over 6f. She was duly heavily punted on 5f return at Lingfield only to stumble at the start and lose all chance. She still looks potentially well in and that’s a risk worth taking.
Returnofthemac, (1620 Ayr), 7/2: only 3lbs higher than when second on his handicap debut at Haydock. That was behind a subsequent winner, and as a lightly raced 3yo from an in form stable up against older rivals, he looks very appealing.
Yimou, (1900 Windsor), 4/1: was recording a second course win when prominent throughout to win a nice race here recently. Only been raised 3lbs for that, but this doesn’t look quite as strong an event, and he looks a solid favourite at a fair price to repeat the dose. He won three in a row once he got going last Summer, so is worth backing now he’s on a roll again.
