The PGA Tour heads to Minnesota this week, with the TPC Twin Cities hosting the 3M Open.
After the stellar lineup last week at Muirfield Village, this starting field has a more prosaic feel. Favourite is Dustin Johnson, but we find it hard to back someone who posted two rounds in the 80s last weekend.
Instead we going to side with Erik Van Rooyen. The South African attended the University of Minnesota and knows this course well. He played well at the Memorial, finishing in 22nd place, and this tournament offers him a chance to shine on the PGA Tour.
Our second selection is Sam Burns to finish in the top ten. The young American finished seventh in last year’s inaugural 3M Open, and has been playing well since the restart. He’s yet to win on the PGA Tour, but we think he has a good chance to be in the running this week.
