Friday Yankee: Le Chiffre holds all the cards….

The Daily Yankee

NAP OF THE DAY: Le Chiffre, (1425 Beverley), 1pt win, 9/4:

This looks likely to concern the two 3yos in Le Chiffre and Bottom Bay. Both have good looking profiles, but Le Chiffre has the been-there-done-it badge of a course win, so often a good indicator at this unusual track, and he can put that experience to good use. Always strong at the end of his races he can finish best and keep up his sequence.

East Street Revue, (1250 Beverley), 4/1: veteran sprinter with an excellent course record of 213. Ran pretty well on comeback at Ripon considering his blindfold was removed too late in the stalls. Has drawn the ideal box in stall 1, dips back yo class 5 for the first time on turf since winning here last May, and can win the battle with Nibras Again and Balancing Act.

Red Kelly, (1545 Down Royal), 5/2: the Ulster Derby and a handicap in which we get to assess the biggest error of judgement by the raters. Top weight Emperor of the Sun has a chance and has been raised 5lbs for coming 4th last time. The useful Marchos Ensemble is a big 9lbs higher for a promising second whilst Aesop has a 12lb rise for his tidy win. None though can match the 21lb rise Red Kelly has been lumbered with for his devastating Leopardstown win. He was backed that day as if defeat was out of the question – which proved to be oh so true. Can he defy such a massive weight increase – we think so – weight is the great leveller in this game, but maybe not yet for big Red.

Stonific, (1645 Beverley), 9/4: one more chance to back course form here as Stonific looks to follow up a recent track win in the day’s closer. He was due a win having run well in better events at Haydock and Doncaster and the step down to shallower company suited with an easy win. Only 3lbs higher here and gives weight to lesser horses in a lower grade contest – he can follow up.
