Monday Yankee: Could it be Magic?

The Daily Yankee

NAP OF THE DAY: Magical Ride, (1740 Windsor), 1pt win, 3/1:

He was very progressive last season and made a fine reappearance here recently when running on from the back for a tenderly handles 4th.  Has ground to make up on two that were ahead that day, but it will be a big surprise if he doesn’t improve a bundle for that run and deliver another win for the flying Megan Nicholls.

Arecibo, (1515 Haydock), 7/2:  five horses vying for favourite here and we have napped them all during the last 12 months !!  Aplomb is ready to win but the ground may be drying out a fraction.  The key runner is Jabbarockie whose early pace will set the race up.  Makanah is sure to run well, but these are Arecibo’s conditions, and the strong pace could finally deliver a winning chance for this frustrating but talented runner.

Tawaafoq, (1600 Yarmouth), 6/1:  this race won’t take much winning with an in form favourite now creeping up the weights and a second favourite very short in experience. That’s not the case with this fella who has been around the block a few times. He has won off a 6lb higher mark last year, and has shown enough in recent runs to suggest his turn is not far away. The booking of the sublime Tom Marquand in the saddle could be the catalyst needed to register that win..

Calm Down, (1945 Windsor), 11/1:  some interesting unexposed runners in this 3yo handicaps and Ralph Beckett’s filly takes top billing off a throwaway mark of 55.  That’s low level stuff but she showed enough when a front running 6th of 16 here last time to suggest that mark could underestimate her.  Plenty of front runners in here, so Harry Bentley can be more patient and she looks value to leave her maiden form behind.
