The Daily Yankee
NAP OF THE DAY: Penwortham, (1730 Chester), 1pt win, 14/1: a regular here and a rarity in that his exaggerated hold up tactics make him draw immune on this most draw sensitive track in racing. He gets a wide berth here, but that’s no bother for him. Mostly importantly he looks likely to get the red hot early pace he needs to open it up for his late weaving charge. Ran ok last time, and looks value to spring an upset.
Dargel, (1700 Leicester), 9/2: a tight little handicap but there are doubts about some of these whereas Dargel comes here for an in form yard off the back of his best run in a while when going close at Newbury. This looks a weaker event and he can go one better.
Major Jumbo, (1830 Chester), 5/2: likes it here having been second and then a winner in this race. Hasn’t been able to handle today’s rival Judicial twice this season, but a 5lb weight pull should make it much closer, and this course plays to the Major’s strengths.
Power Of States, (1930 Chester), 9/2: has looked in great nick of late when threatening to win some decent events. That form looks rock solid and his smooth travelling style should suit this venue and the drop back in trip looks ideal for him.
