PGA Tour: Side with English…

The PGA Tour heads to Greensboro, North Carolina this week, with the Sedgefield Country Club hosting the Wyndham Championship.

Coming straight after the first major of the year, this tournament is seen as a more gentle event, with the winning score being in the -20s for the last four years.

Favourite for the event is Webb Simpson, who’s name seems to have been a permanent fixture of the leaderboard in this tournament over the last few years. He likes this course, and must have a chance, but we’re not taking 10/1.

Brooks Koepka is next, and is actually a higher price to win against this weaker field than last week’s PGA Championship. However, he seems to reserve his best work for the big events so we’ll pass.

Our first selection is Harris English. The American is quietly having a very good year. He’s had four straight top 20s finishes, including last week in the PGA. He closed last week’s major with a four under round, and we think he’ll carry that form over to this week.

Next up is a favourite of ours, Sungjae Im. The Korean loved this course last time he played, finishing sixth including shooting a 62. He played well last week, apart from his putting, and now he’s on his favoured bermuda grass that could change.

Recommendations:

English to win, 1 pt, at 25/1, widely available

Im 0.5 pts each way at 33/1, 1/5 the odds for the first eight places, William Hill
