PGA Tour: Bank on Bryson…

The FedEx Cup Playoffs start this week, with the TPC Boston hosting The Northern Trust.

The last three champions of this tournament are currently number two, three and eight in the world rankings, suggesting the top of the betting is the place to start looking for the winner.

Although there have been changes made to the course since the early part of the last decade when winning scores in the -20s were needed, the winner is still going to have to make plenty of birdies.

With this in mind we’re going to side with Bryson DeChambeau. The young American has been in sparkling form since the restart. He’s already won at this course, hits the ball a mile and must have a great chance of winning.

Our next bet stays with the theme of sticking with the top of the betting. William Hill has offered an enhanced 5/1 that DeChambeau, Rory McIlroy and Xander Schauffele all finish in the top 20 (including ties).

We’ve already explained that we expected DeChambeau to perform well. McIlroy has won twice around this course in the past and showed some signs of improvement last week. Schauffele has become very consistent, and seems to perform well on the bigger stage. We think this deal makes sense.

Recommendations:

DeChambeau to win, 1 pt, at 12/1, widely available

DeChambeau, McIlroy and Schauffele to all finish in the top 20 (including ties), 1 pt, at 5/1, William Hill
