The Daily Yankee
NAP OF THE DAY: Asiaaf, (1615 York), 1pt win, 11/4:
Probably ran into a good one last time at Goodwood yet finished well clear of the rest. A 4lb rise looks very fair and she should still be improving having been lightly raced. Well drawn to sit in the pocket behind the pace, and jockey Jim Crowley continues to ride with tremendous confidence.
Nayef Road, (1410 York), 5/2: tried to make all in both Ascot and Goodwood gold cups and no shame in losing out on both occasions only to the legendary Stradivarius. This tracks suits those pressing tactics although he may get some competition here for the early lead. Provided he doesn’t burn too much juice early, his form entitles him to battle home for a deserved win.
Minzaal, (1445 York), 11/4: has some ground to make up on his debut fourth behind today’s rival Mohawk King. But Minzaal has gained valuable extra experience since when trotting up in a maiden. The Owen Burrows stable continues to be in excellent form and he can land this prestigious event at his old rival’s expense.
Brunch, (1650 York), 9/1: not much on form between Eastern Magic and Finest Sound with the draw favouring the latter. The draw also favours Brunch and he could be a quietly improving type. Got going late to get up on the line over an easy 7f last time and this mile looks sure to suit.
