NAP OF THE DAY: Inductive, (1440 Ayr), 1pt win, 7/2:
This in-form 3yo was a nap selection for us here last time when running shortly after a cosy course and distance win. That didn’t work out as a late deluge turned the ground heavy (racing was called off after the race), but he still ran well for a long way and now he gets back to a decent surface and we expect his previous progress to be resumed.
Lezardrieux, (1410 Ayr), 12/1: an open sprint where Mr Wagyu will play the hare and old favourite Be Proud has solid each way claims. But 3yo Lezardrieux may be the one to catch at these prices as he finally steps up to 6f having shown promise over 5f. Forgive a poor run when badly drawn at Pontefract and the rest of his form is pretty solid. The easy 6f here looks ideals and he could spring a surprise.
Oliver’s Betty, (1615 Ayr), 9/2: Not many to fancy in this basement level event that is limited to horses rated no higher than 50. On those grounds Oliver’s Betty wouldn’t be the best treated off 47, but that mark may be an illusion as it doesn’t account for an excellent second at Beverley last week. That is the best form on offer here and this mare is likely to be rated a few pounds above the 50 ceiling once that run is taken into account, she can take advantage here.
Global Spirit, (1725 Ayr), 11/2: one of our blog regulars who has been in excellent form since stepped up to a mile this season. Ran well again last time and the sharp mile here with the emphasis on speed should suit him ideally. Has a hot favourite to beat in Eagle Court, but appealing as he is, he is also very short in the market for a horse with little experience. We prefer the grizzled knowhow of Global Spirit.
