A nice nap win for Inductive yesterday (5/1), leaves us looking for a nap hat-trick today in sunny Catterick…

NAP OF THE DAY: Cormier, (1325 Catterick), 1pt win, 5/2:
Trainer Brian Ellison rarely gets caught out with one of his winning unexpectedly and his is a stable where it often pays to follow the money. This horse won nicely here last time when a well backed favourite despite his only recent run being a pulled up over hurdles. The handicapper has been fair and this longer trip on softer ground should, if anything, suit him even better. He should follow up.
Stag Horn, (1355 Catterick), 2/1: a useful little field, but this 3yo is one of only two in that age bracket and they still get a useful 10lbs weight for age at this trip. Likes to front run, which both suits this course and the small field. Has been well beaten in his last two runs but the form of those races has turned out to be well above average, and this is a distinct lowering of his sights. Should enjoy the trip and ground on breeding, and could be hard to pass.
Clearance, (1525 Catterick), 11/2: already a winning nap for us last time out and nearly earned that badge again here. This is a stronger race with a lot more depth, but there is no doubt that Clearance is on a firm upward path having travelled sweetly before quickening to win his recent races. Of course the big doubt here is the step back from 2m to 12f, but soft ground should ass to the stamina need and he can use his cruising speed to be effective.
Zip, (1635 Catterick), 11/2: closely matched with a number fo these in what looks a tight little race. Is perhaps more entitled that some here to still have some improvement aged 4, and certainly has come on with each run so far this season culminating in a tidy win at Haydock last time. Jockey Tiny Hamilton is a veteran and will use stall 1 here to good effect if able to rail well, and with a course and distance win on heavy ground he has nothing to fear from this surface.
