The Daily Yankee
NAP OF THE DAY: Prince Alex, (1705 Beverley), 1pt win, 9/4:
Picks up the anchor leg of today’s yankee, but is also the banker leg, coming here after a cosy win at Windsor on his handicap debut. That is not the easiest track to make up ground at, but he did to get up late on suggesting this slightly longer trip can bring about further improvement sufficient to deft a somewhat friendly 5lb weight rise.
Harrison Point, (1430 Beverley), 11/4: a race which surely boils down to two in form 3yos in Harrison Point and Le Chiffre. We have been on Le Chiffre the last twice and he definitely has the scope to win again, but Harrison Point won well last time on soft ground from near the pace and those tactics can go well here.
Balancing Act, (1500 Beverley), 10/1: plenty of possible options in an open handicap including old favourite Gamesome. But Balancing Act looks very interesting. The 3yo filly has run two good races here on quick ground but should enjoy the cut this time having won on soft as a 2yo last year. The softer ground tends to negate some of the usually distinct draw bias, so he middle draw should be useful in keeping all options open.
Motamayiz, (1510 Chelmsford), 5/2: still fairly lightly raced and showed this trip holds no fears when finishing well after a troubled run at Yarmouth. Has good all weather form to his name and his tidy apprentice jockey claims a useful 5lbs, making his net rating 71 which is within range for a horse who has won off 63 and 69 already this summer.
