The Daily Yankee
NAP OF THE DAY: Toro Strike, (1535 Goodwood), 1pt win, 11/1:
Plenty of solid older horse a t the head of the betting, but the two 3yos may be underestimated here. Cloak Of Stars brings Guineas form into the reckoning and looks overpriced to us , but we prefer the improving handicapper Toro Strike. He won in really eye-catching style over this course last time. That form still leaves him almost a stone to find on official figures, but those figures may under-rate him and he appears to be improving fast for a yard who can often get impressive late bloomers.
Alaadel, (1425 Goodwood), 6/1: three runners at the head of the market all with soft ground winning course form. Atalanta’s Boy and Chairmanoftheboard have clear chances, but Alaadel is arguable the best handicapped of the trio, has Oisin Murphy in the saddle and should come on leaps for his promising recent seasonal reappearance.
It’s Good To Laugh, (1500 Goodwood), 5/1: has shown his best form on soft ground and when ridden from the front. If rival Overwrite is ridden to get the trip here, then It’s Good To Laugh could have a free ride up top from stall 1. If jockey Kirby gets his fractions right, then he’ll be hard to pass on this ground up the straight.
Libretti, (1525 Yarmouth), 10/3: was a good winner here two runs ago and then ran a cracker where just touched off at Kempton last time. Keeps getting weight hikes but that last run suggests there is more improvement in the locker. Tom Queally keeps the ride and he should be steering this one back to the winners’ enclosure.
