Monday Yankee: Never again (after today)…

NAP OF THE DAY: Arecibo, (1535 Sandown), 7/2:

A candidate for the most expensive horse in this blog’s history, yet gets the nap vote again in a case of “if at first you don’t succeed, try and try and try and try…..”.  Consistently does enough to tempt us in again but never wins.  Has a fair draw here, should like the stiff track, and this is a whole lot easier that the race he ran a close 4th in at York last time.  Maygold looks the main danger but this can, finally, be Arecibo’s chance to pay back some portion of past losses. Never again, truly, never again.

Just Hiss, (1320 Ripon), 4/1:  we were keen on Danyah last time but he was a bit disappointing and needs to step up here to justify favouritism.  Just Hiss however comes here with crucial course and distance form.  He’s only up 3lbs for that and has a great chance of back to back course wins

Sarvan, (1420 Ripon), 2/1:  looked a real horse to follow when winning at Pontefract but may have aimed a bit high and a bit fat when beaten over 12f in a hot Goodwood race last time.  Back to 10f and back down in class, this looks a great chance to reaffirm that Ponty promise.

Arabic Charm, (1715 Sandown), 2/1:  lightly raced filly who cam on leaps and bounds on her handicap debut here when just worn down by a well handicapped and in form rival.  The rest were well beaten off there, a repeat should be good enough to win this, but the likelihood is that she will improve again and win with ease.
