Apart from one great win recently, this has been a Summer of frustration amply illustrated by yesterday’s Yankee. The one win, Donnelly’s Rainbow (10/1), was wasted as first Mr Chua (9/2) and then 2pt nap Many A Star (10/1) were beaten into second, the nap by a frustrating neck margin. Hopefully we are just saving the luck for today…
The Daily Yankee
NAP OF THE DAY: Sansevero, (1520 Leicester), 1pt win, 10/3:
Won his debut race on the all weather and followed that with a good second in a useful Haydock novice. An opening mark of 82 looks well within reach, and his stable is one that is highly adept at getting inexperienced horses to deliver in handicap company.
Monsieur Patat, (1525 Windsor), 10/3: didn’t have much luck on handicap debut on only his third start, but made amends by cruising to an easy win here on his next start. Is 6lbs higher here but is well drawn and could have at least that much in hand, so should win again.
Impulsive One, (1700 Windsor), 2/1: has only had two runs but his debut was a promising effort in what is already one of the seasons best maidens, and his follow up second at novice level was to a potentially good one of Gosden’s. Has top weight here, but the mark of 73 looks far too low and he can give weight, class, and a thrashing to his rivals.
Spanish Kiss, (1800 Windsor), 3/1: trainer William Knight is having a cracking season, and this lightly raced 3yo looks ready to add to the tally. Ran a race full of promise on handicap debut when staying in really well into third. Runs off the same mark and has to have a great chance with that experience under his belt.
