Kerching !! 14/1 Yankee, good, and yet…

Things did not look too bright for our Daily Yankee after the first leg and our nap of the day, Spanish Kiss, finished runner up at Newcastle.

The first signs of life came with the as-predicted all-the-way win for Stag Horn (5/2 early, 13/8 SP) at Goodwood.

It was back to the same track for leg 3 and a cosy sprint win for Dream Today (7/2 early, 3/1 SP).

A brilliant tactical move from amateur Becky Smith saw her pull the ailing Stormin Norman (13/2), our last leg, to the stands rail at Catterick from where he put the Stormin into his name with a victorious surge.

That amounted to around a 14/1 return on total money staked. A handy building of the coffers ahead of Doncaster. It did though also prompt, in true gambler’s fashion, some rueful reflection on the nap’s defeat where a severe lack of pace meant that although travelling strongly up to challenge he just couldn’t get past the cannily ridden leader and hence we missed a substantially bigger return.

Stay tuned for the Donny action…
