The Daily Yankee
NAP OF THE DAY: Eeh Bah Gum, (1615 Doncaster), 2pts win, 4/1:
He has featured in this blog often enough without winning. Can be very frustrating but we have waited until he showed some real form, which he did with a decent 4th last time at Thirsk. Has dropped to a mark 5lbs below his last win and is very well handicapped provided we get the sunny drying day that is forecast – the quicker it gets, the better.
Moss Gill, (1410 Doncaster), 3/1: much as we love our regular Tarboosh at this track, the younger Moss Gill looks very much the one on the up and up here. Should enjoy track and going and confirmed his progress with an excellent Group 1 3rd last time. Should take this if continuing to improve.
Cloak Of Spirits, (1445 Doncaster), 5/1: the older horses head this market but the 3yos Althiqa and Cloak Of Spirits look the ones for us. Not much between them on Deauville form last time, but this quicker surface and shorter trip may help 1000 Guineas runner up Cloak Of Stars to earn a well deserved 3yo win.
Hypothetical , (1545 Doncaster), 9/1: may have had Classic pretentions when going off favourite for a Group 3 on his seasonal debut. A 4th there was disappointing but has looked a whole lot better with hindsight. A mark of 96 looked good at Royal Ascot but he bombed on the rain softened ground. A nice break since, and with drying ground, he still looks well weighted and this race is a perfect prep for a tilt at the Cambridgeshire, a race his stable wins often enough with just such a 3yo.
