Tuesday Yankee: Where there’s a Will….

The Daily Yankee

NAP OF THE DAY: William Alexander, (1550 Beverley), 1pt win, 3/1:

This fella looked good when surging away to win well here last week.  On one hand that was a truly awful race, on the other hand he was deeply impressive, is un-penalised and was unsuited by race conditions.  Stone Mason re-opposes but will be physically over a stone worse off so it’s hard to see how he is competing for favouritism.  William should be very hard to beat.

Idoapologise, (1405 Beverley), 6/1:  an interesting race featuring a number of in form course regulars.  James Bethell’s 3yo may be the least exposed and looks well in here off just 77.  Won twice as a 2yo and ran a really good second here over a mile in June last time out off 74.  Was trying to give the useful La Trinidad 9lbs that day, and that horse is now rated 23lbs higher showing how respectable an effort it was to chase home for second.  May have more in hand than some of these who have shown the handicapper a lot more during their busy Summer campaigns.

Dapper Man (1515 Beverley), 6/1:  front running sprinter who was in flying form when winning four in a row last Summer.  Has struggled since but has led for a long way in a few recent efforts suggesting that his sliding rating may be about to yield dividends.  This is a stiff track, but front runners can do well here around the bend especially on this quick ground and this could be his day to burst back on the scene.

Dangeroffizz, (1645 Beverley), 8/1:  mostly older horses here and Dangeroffizz brings the only 3yo form of note.  Was a fine short head second here to another 3yo shortly after a decent Ripon win.  Has since been a well held 3rd of 16 here but on ground softer than ideal.  Back in a decent surface and against exposed older sorts he should go close.
