Premier League: Maupay leads off goalscorer Yankee…

There are four matches in the Premier League to enjoy Saturday, and we’ve suggested a goalscorer Yankee to allow you to feel involved.

The early game sees Manchester United travel to the south coast to take on Brighton. United were dreadful against Palace in their opening game, but did have the excuse of lack of fitness, given Brighton had played a game extra. We can only imagine that they will improve, but by how much?

Brighton, by contrast, we’re convincing in their win over Newcastle. We think they will be up for this clash, and consequently think the odds-on price for an away win is far too short. We’re tempted with the 4/1 on offer that the hosts win today, but instead we’ll side with Neal Maupay netting anytime.

Next up is Crystal Palace taking on Everton at Selhurst Park. Both teams have had impressive starts to the season, taking all six points from their two games and scoring 10 goals combined in the process.

It’s difficult making a judgement on who wins the game, so we won’t! Instead we’ll side with Wilfried Zaha to score anytime. He has already netted three times in his two league games, crucially including a penalty against Manchester United last time out.

Next up is West Brom at home to Chelsea. Looking at the odds, this game has the strongest favourite to win out of all of Saturday’s matches in the Premier League.

And we think Chelsea will do so, smarting as they must be after Sunday’s defeat to Liverpool. In Timo Werner they have a striker with a big reputation who is still looking for his first goal. He has a great chance to open his account today, but is odds-on to do so.

Instead we’ll side with Jorginho, the penalty taker for the Blues, who is likely to get a chance to make amends for Sunday’s miss given the pace and trickery of the players in front of him.

The late game sees Burnley host a struggling Southampton side, who have lost their opening two games this season.

This is likely to be a close game, with neither side in prolific goalscoring form. However, Burnley seem to have found a way to grind out results, and we’ll take them to pinch a win tonight.

Chris Wood has scored in four consecutive Premier League games and is still odds against to net tonight. However, given we think goals will be at a premium, we will side with him to score the opening goal tonight.

Recommendations:

Maupay to score anytime (5/2), Zaha to score anytime (100/30), Jorginho to score anytime (5/1) and Wood to score first (11/2) as a Yankee.
