The Daily Yankee
NAP OF THE DAY: Mackelly, (1920 Southwell), 1pt win, 15/8:
He hadn’t shown a huge amount until his first run on this unique surface when surging clear for an easy win. Got out-quickened late on at Chelmsford next time, but a turn of foot is important there whereas maintaining a gallop is what it is all about at Southwell and he can show that agin here.
Ainsdale, (1450 Leicester), 7/2: made a belated 3yo debut in a good handicap at Haydock recently and ran a good 4th. Has a few lengths to find with Count D’Orsay, but gets a 4lb pull, softer ground and the benefit of that run, and that could be enough to turn the tables.
Brennar Pass, (1720 Southwell), 9/4: ran ok on handicap debut at Lingfield recently when a close enough 5th. Has dropped a handy few pounds for that and returns to Thai surface where he arguably gave his best performance last year. Looks to have a big chance.
Cedar Cage, (1850 Southwell), 5/2: Won on his previous visit to this course and surface. Has run well in his runs in useful turf handicaps and now returns to this surface. Has that course form advantage over rival Durrell and can put that to good use.
