We’ve had a more than frustrating run of places in the last week or two including our 14/1 nap on Friday registering yet another second. So it was some relief to see yesterday’s nap Latent Heat (10/1 early, 15/2 SP) get the better of a battle at Goodwood to help balance the book.
The Daily Yankee
NAP OF THE DAY: Marshal Dan, (1430 Musselburgh), 1pt win, 6/1:
A consistent handicapper and a favourite of ours after wins at Chepstow and Haydock. Hasn’t been overly punished for that, and ran really well at Newbury again last time. Is nicely drawn in a weaker race, and the invaluable 5lb claim of his excellent apprentice makes a net rating of 79 looks very winnable.
Primo’s Comet, (1500 Musselburgh), 9/2: we were on Black Friday when he won at Ayr last week, but this step down to a speedy 5f on quicker ground is a big ask of his basic speed. Instead, course specialist Primo’s Comet looks the one. He has some great runs here despite not always being well drawn. He has a great box today and if he can track the pace on the rail and avoid the trouble of last time, the he should register another course win.
Royal Brave, (1530 Musselburgh), 5/1: tempting to go with well drawn veteran Duke Of Firenze, however Royal Brave simply adores this track. He has looked in great form lately and won last week at Catterick. His middle draw is not too bad, and he is worth backing on his stomping ground whilst in such good form.
The King’s Steed, (1610 Windsor), 3/1: won under a prominent ride on soft at Salisbury last week and has winning back form on heavy. Very rarely runs at this 6f, but the heavy ground should take some initial pace out of this race and he can forge clear up that far rail once his stamina kicks in.
