NAP OF THE DAY: Many A Star, (1500 Newcastle), 1pt win, 10/1:
A favourite of ours who we are sure has a decent future. A big sprinter who is only just maturing into his frame, he has run well all summer albeit a little disappointing last time on soft ground at Ascot. Has something to find with Fresh on that run, but this surface is likely to be much more suitable and it’s a course that rewards keeping up a good gallop which is this guy’s forte.
Fitzrovia, (1810 Kempton), 5/1: ran very well at this track two runs ago when not getting the best of runs before stepping through to lead only to get pipped late on. Has since run well on turf at Nottingham and now back at this track if he can reply his turn of foot with slightly better timing then this is his for the taking.
Katherine Place, (1635 Kempton), 9/2: ran two great races here this time last year, making all to win first time before nearly repeating despite a very wide draw. Has a nice stall this time and apprentice Clutterbuck is decent value for his claim. Shouldn’t need to be tactically cute, get out, get in front and try and tone those fractions well.
Strong Power, (1840 Kempton), 9/2: three recent course winners in opposition here. Strong Power impressed most has he had to overcome a fair amount of trouble but was pulling away at the end. Should be able to defy his weight rise, and as a horse who doesn’t mind being held up, his wide draw may not be the disadvantage it would be for more prominent racing types.
