The Daily Yankee
NAP OF THE DAY: Twilight Song, (1600 Newmarket), 1pt win, 4/1:
Stayed on well to win his maiden, a rare 2yo success for his trainer. Tried 7f last time in a good event at Doncaster and was staying on well despite not getting the clearest of runs. Steps back down in class here and can end the day well for Buick.
Entwine, (1300 Newmarket), 7/2: not much form to go on here and a few of these showed plenty of promise on debut and the question is who might progress the best. We like Entwine based on her excellent Salisbury debut. Her stable are in good form and she looks likely to improve a lot for her experience.
Dubawi Sands, (1335 Newmarket), 3/1: we are not convinced by those with expert here and the door is ajar for a very talented newcomer. Dubawi Sands is beautifully bred and comes from connections who are both in good form and excel at these end of season maidens. He can lay down some credentials for Classic contention by taking this on debut.
Rewired, (1445 Newmarket), 6/1: gets in here off bottom weight. Just got better the further he went when grinding out a win at Lingfield last time, This is a marathon trip for 2yos and with a featherweight and the assistance of de Sousa on board he may just plug on when others have cried enough.
