Friday Yankee: Easy Chee-zy …

The Daily Yankee

NAP OF THE DAY:  Tranchee, (1440 Doncaster), 1pt win, 9/2:

Some old favourites here but with Jonah Jones hugely frustrating this looks better left to Tranchee, a York tip for us last time when a good runner up.  Won on his only previous visit here, and is in peak form ready for a repeat.

Mossy Fen, (1445 Cheltenham), 7/2:  a very interesting novice chase.  Galvin beings festival form and a winning sequence through the Summer, but is penalised and doesn’t have much to spare on official ratings.  Mossy Fen was a promising novice hurdler last season whilst always looking like a chaser-to-be.  His stable like to win here and usually have their horses very fit for seasonal reappearance.  He may just have a bit too much for the Irish favourite in receipt of 8lbs.

On The Slopes, (1535 Cheltenham), 5/1:  this fella ran in a race here in Jan that we figured to be a key Cheltenham festival trial when. Good third to Simply The Betts and Imperial Aura.  We put all 3 up as a festival treble but On The Slopes failed today get into the Grand Annual  leaving us a very lucrative double but an open question of what might have been.  He won smoothly at Kempton afterwards and now we can assess how it may have gone Mack in March as he tries the course and distance.  We can’t be sure of his fitness, but provided he is straight enough then he looks good value to prove his worth.

Magic Dancer, (1715 Cheltenham), 9/1: a useful handicap hurdler who has slipped a crucial few pounds down the weights to a much more competitive mark. Tends to run very well at this time of year and his yard is in fine early season form. Has run well here in the past and his reappearance at Plumpton was a solid effort that should have blown away any cobwebs. Looks a fair price in a race where many of the others have much more to prove.
