The Daily Yankee
NAP OF THE DAY: War Glory, (1415 Lingfield), 1pt win, 6/1:
Ghalyoon looks a worthy favourite here, but he has to prove this surface suits. No such worries for the well drawn War Glory who took this race easily last year off a higher mark, part of a course record that reads 2211. He ran pretty well at Chelmsford last time, and this is likely to have been his Autumn target.
Cloak Of Spirits, (1445 Lingfield), 5/4: started the season with a runner up effort in the 1000 Guineas and most lately was an excellent third in a Group 1 at Newmarket. Has run well in between including a win at this level at Newmarket. Is clear top rated in this and is bred to cope well with this surface. Should run prominently and frankly should be comfortably odds on so we’re happy to have her anchor the Yankee.
Sorrel , (1545 Lingfield), 3/1: it may be Worthing taking on Elizabethofaragorn who whilst highest rated is not be necessarily bred for this test and has been plenty busy enough of late. Tempting as it is to go with old favourite Moll Davis, it’s the Stoute’s trained Sorrel who arrives here with loads of upward momentum. On a roll, and with all weather form in the past, she looks the one.
Come On Girl, (1615 Lingfield), 5/1: won on her last visit to this course for a previous trainer off a 1lb higher mark. Has joined the Appleby yard that often does well with recruits and makes an interesting first stab at 7f for a horse who finishes 6f races so well. If you’re going to get 7f in the all weather then it will be at this venue and apprentice find Rat Dawson is the ideal pilot.
