NAP OF THE DAY: Two For Gold, (1410 Wetherby), 1pt win, 3/1:
On the down side this 3m novice winner could find this trip on the sharp side. On the plus side his stable is on truly flying form and he is the one horse in this race capable of being well ahead of his rating. An aggressive ride near the pace and a long strike for home could be too much for this opposition to handle.
Fransham, (1335 Wetherby), 3/1: won this race last year and returns just 3lbs higher. Looked to run with real promise on reappearance at Market Rasen when getting in contention until tiring late on. This that will have been a prep for this and now fitter and dropping in trip, conditions look ideal.
Bridge Native, (1535 Down Royal), 5/1: a fine day’s racing at Down Royal featuring the twin talents of Abacadabras and Envoi Allen. Neither of those are backable, but the handicap chase throws up an option in the in form mare Bridge Native. She has a small amount to find with Scheu Time on Galway form, but that one is moody whereas this mare continues to thrive.
Mascat, (1605 Newmarket), 4/1: favourite Chance looks an obvious pick after a good second last time, but on heavy ground it may be worth trying Mascat. We were on him last time when he was second. Admittedly the winner never left second gear but he could be very useful and the two pulled a long way clear. That proven ability in the muddy ground could stand him in good stead.
