The Daily Yankee
NAP OF THE DAY: Solid Stone, (1845 Chelmsford), 1pt win, 9/4:
He has a good record on the all weather and ran a blinder in a top race at Ascot last time when travelling really well for a long time. That style underpins why he has been effective on the synthetics, and with top jock Marquand doing the steering, he can outclass this field
Tomorrow Mystery, (1220 Newbury), 6/4: very interesting mare who looked a useful hurdler in 2018 before injury struck. Made a recent comeback on the flat when an excellent third and comes here for a red-hot stable and should record an easy win on the way to better things.
Present Chief, (1430 Newbury), 4/1: a decent quality race but Jonjo O’Neill’s lightly raced progressive hurdler steps up in class and stays at the right end of the handicap. In form, fit as a flea and a proven stayer, he should have a big chance under the trainer’s outstanding son in the saddle.
Morning Vicar, (1505 Newbury), 3/1: has the physical scope and hints at the ability to be much better than his handicap mark. Was looking likely to prove that before an awful fall here last season, but jumped well when a good second at Uttoxeter on reappearance and this could be his day.
