Friday Yankee: Gust to blow them away…

The Daily Yankee

NAP OF THE DAY:  Gustavian, (1510 Fontwell), 1pt win, 5/2:

There is no doubting that College Oak is well in off the same mark as winning at Ascot in Saturday.  That would normally be enough for us, but the unexposed Gustavian comes from a flying yard who had a treble on that same Ascot card.  He could be anything and may have even more in hand that College Oak.

Sorbet,  (1335 Warwick), 7/2:  a tricky handicap but Sorbet could be the one after an encouraging reappearance.  Wasn’t able to handle a bang in form rival here then, but was a good second.  May well improve for that run, and jockey Bryony Frost will have learnt a bit about this mare, and both can put that learning to good effect here.

McGinty’s Dream, (1530 Hexham), 5/2:  9yo chaser who has been around the block a few times but looked a reformed character when absolutely cruising home here on return.  The 8lb rise would be nowhere near enough if he can repeat that effort, and although his history wouldn’t give you watertight confidence, it’s still probably more likely than not.

Chosen World, (1900 Newcastle), 5/2:  Great Colaci is in form form, but the horse he ran down inside the last furlong over a mile here last week, Chosen World, may get the better of him this time.  He loves this track, gets a 4lb pull in the weights and is arguably better at this shorter trip.
