On the basis that if at first you don’t succeed, try, try and try again, we’re going to revisit a bet that we posted last weekend.
Kansas City Chiefs are the defending Super Bowl champions, and they are playing up to the title. They have won seven of their eight games to date–the one loss was a surprise defeat to the Las Vegas Raiders–and they come off a comfortable 35-9 win over the New York Jets. In fact the fewest points they have scored in any one game this season has been 26.
They now take on the Carolina Panthers, a team which has lost five of their eight games so far. The bookies make the Chiefs a 10-point favourite to win the game, a hefty handicap, and we think this is about right.
We’re not going to touch the outright result. but will look to take advantage of Kansas quarterback Patrick Mahomes’s inspired form. He has been throwing touchdowns for fun, and one of his favoured targets in the red zone has been Travis Kelce. The tight end has scored six TDs in the eight games, including two against Buffalo three weeks ago.
Kelce is 6/1 to score two TDs tonight, but we’re going to take a punt that he scores a hat trick as we find the 25/1 on offer too large to turn down.
Kansas City Chiefs/Carolina Panthers: Kelce to score a hat trick, 1 pt, at 25/1, Paddy Power
