Thursday Yankee: Check mate…

A nice battling win for yesterday’s well backed nap, Mint Condition (9/4 early, 11/8 SP), duly landing our nap-trick. Four in a row would be a great way to head into the big Cheltenham weekend…

The Daily Yankee

NAP OF THE DAY:  Checkitout, (1415 Ludlow), 1pt win, 5/2:

A lightly raced novice who made an eye catching chasing debut when 5th in a race at Uttoxeter that is already starting to work out well.  Should appreciate this step up in trip and may have too much for fellow favourite Don Lami despite that one’s hot stable form.

Westerner Point,  (1350 Clonmel), 3/1:  veteran who took this race off a lower mark last year.  That was a narrow win but the form was pretty strong.  Rated much higher over fences and has been running well in that discipline recently.  We know he loves these conditions and even at 11yo he is the one to beat.

Pontresina, (1440 Taunton), 5/2:   Not many in here in much form and this should develop into a match between Irish Prophecy and Pontresina.  The latter comes here after a battling Kempton win and hasn’t been badly treated for that and should be able to get another win on the board.

Weihnachts, (1535 Clonmel), 4/1:  not exactly one of his owner’s stars, but dwells off a basement level rating and showed enough on return at Galway to suggest he can mature into making this a winning mark.  Was unlucky to fall on the flat last time and this race is bigger on numbers than quality.
